New Zealand student visa

Students who wish to study in New Zealand for more than three months must obtain a New Zealand student visa from the Department of Immigration and Immigration in order to stay in New Zealand legally. Student visas are issued according to the period the student has registered for school and has paid tuition. 

Preparations for applying for a New Zealand student visa

To apply for a New Zealand visa, you will need to prepare the following documents:

  • New Zealand Student Visa Application

  • passport :  Please check if there is enough validity period remaining.

  • 2 passport photos: less than 6 months old

  • Admission letter and receipt of tuition payment: Documents issued by the school

  • English bank statement - $1,500 (NZ)/month or $15,000 (NZ)/year

  • English resident registration copy

  • Copy of ticket (one-way ticket possible)

  • Health check-up is for those over the age of 11  Only chest x-rays are required and only available in hospitals designated by Immigration New Zealand

  • Parental Consent Form in English: Fill out only for students who come alone without parents

  • Visa application fee: $310 (as of 2021)

New Zealand Guardian (Visitor) Visa

Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by one of their parents in order to study abroad. To this end, the New Zealand government issues a Guardian Visa Visitor Visa to one of the accompanying parents according to the period for which international students are issued a student visa. do it

New Zealand Guardian Visa Application Requirements

One of the parents accompanying the guardian visa child is required to provide the following documents:
 

  • New Zealand Student Visa Application

  • Passport – Please make sure you have enough validity remaining.

  • 2 passport photos: less than 6 months old

  • Financial Certificate - $1,000 (NZ)/month or $12,000 (NZ)/year

  • Family relationship certificate (English translation required) or English family copy

  • Physical examination – chest X-ray (stay for more than 6 months) / Additional blood test, urine test, etc. (stay for more than 1 year)

  • Background Check – Submitted when the visa you are applying for is beyond 24 months of staying in New Zealand

  • Visa application fee: $310 (online)

Those who have recently applied for a student visa in Korea usually complete the visa approval process within 15 days.  You can print the obtained visa and bring it with your passport to use when entering New Zealand. (The sample below is a visa that was approved prior to entry)

Information on physical examination for visa issuance

※ In case of student visa application

1. Children under the age of 11 do not need a health check-up.

2. If you are staying in New Zealand for less than 6 months, you do not need a medical examination.

3. If you are staying in New Zealand for more than 6 months, you only need a CHEST X-RAY.

4. Once received, CHEST X-RAY is valid for 3 years.

 

※ In case of guardian visa application

1. If you are staying in New Zealand for less than 6 months, you do not need a medical examination.

2. If you are staying in New Zealand for more than 6 months and less than 1 year, you only need a CHEST X-RAY.

3. If you are staying in New Zealand for more than one year, you must receive a FULL MEDICAL CHECK. 

4. Once received, the FULL MEDICAL CHECK is valid for 3 years.
